Going through a zombie phase at the moment. Think it stems from a long term fascination with them. Used to spend ages discussing zombie apocalyptic scenarios with an old co worker. Where would you head to in the city,(the local outdoor swimming pool-it's built like a castle) what would be your weapon of choice(machette), things like that.I was pretty inspired by 'World War Z' (the books not the new film). Unlike a series of one off's though, I want to create a body of work. A collection of 20-50 pieces all on old vinyl. It seems like the natural thing to create them on as I'm soo used to creating stencil work on them. I've taken to calling these creations my z-beebies, a pun on the uk childrens channel cbeebies. Anyways, hope you're enjoying them.
In an effort to improve the finished pieces I would like any feedback or advice on certain problems in the process of making them. I'm covering the vinyl in old wall paper and sticking sticker art on top. However, these stickers aren't great. They have a tendency to peel a bit(hence why I'm currently glueing them as well) and if the wallpaper is too dark it sometimes is visible through the sticker. When it has done this I've tried to paint over it in white but that tends to ruffle the paper. Are there any alternatives anyone knows of which could do the job better?
Entered a sticker competition. Your vote would be appreciated:
